Speaking of jailbreaking, although it comes with some risk, you need it if you wish to truly change your iPhone font styles. The main risks involved are your iPhone getting stock or wiped, and this article also covers troubleshooting tips for these issues.
Part 1. How to Change the Font Style on iPhone
When searching for how do I change the font on my iPhone, you would notice that Jailbroken iPhones have more customization possibilities than non-jailbroken phones. This also applies to changing font styles. Here, I’ll teach you how to change font style on iPhone whether or not they are jailbroken.
1.1. Using Cydia to Change the System Font Style for jailbroken iPhones
The best method for changing the font style on jailbroken iPhones is by using Cydia. Cydia is an unofficial App Store alternative that contains tons of apps, tweaks, and unauthorized software. Here, I’ll show you how to change the font style on your iPhone using the Cydia app, Byta Font.
Step 1. Launch Cydia
Every jailbroken iPhone has Cydia. So, open Cydia on the device. You will find the icon on your home screen. If you have never used Cydia, you may have to update your iPhone and then restart it to continue.
Step 2. Install Byta Font from Cydia
On Cydia, search for “Byta Font.” Byta Font is a free app available from the standard ModMyl section. When you find the application, tap “Install” and then select “Confirm” to get it. After the installation, your iPhone will restart to complete it.
Byta Font lets you customize your iPhone fonts way beyond the normal text size settings you get built into your iPhone. In the next step, I’ll show you how to change the font on your iPhone using this app.
Step 3. Download a new font
Next, after the installation is complete, tap on the Byta Font icon to launch it. To change your iPhone font style in Byta Font, you can search for any font from the “BytaFont” tab. When there, tap on “Browse Fonts” and look for a font you like.
If you see a great fit, all you need do is hit “Download.” Cydia completes the installation at this point. In the screenshot below, I searched for the font style “Caviar Dreams.”
Step 4. Apply the new font on your iPhone
After downloading the font, it’s now time to set it as your iPhone font style. Launch Byta Font and navigate to the “Swap Mode” tab of the application. Next, select the “Basic” option and then select the downloaded font you wish to apply.
Finally, tap on “Yes” to authorize the change. This will automatically restart your iPhone, and on turning on, you will notice that your fonts have changed to the selected one.
1.2. Using AnyFont to Customize the Font Style for non-jailbroken iPhones
You cannot jailbreak some iOS versions, and if you cannot jailbreak your iPhone, it means that the Cydia method will not work for you. In fact, without jailbreaking your iPhone, you can’t change the font styles.
However, the application called AnyFont can allow you to access a plethora of font styles and use them on third-party apps, such as Excel, Keynotes, Pages, etc. AnyFont is not free – it sells for $1.99 on the App Store. So, after purchasing AnyFont, the following steps will show you how to change the font on iPhone with AnyFont.
Step 1. Install AnyFont from the App Store. To find a font type, search for “OTC” in the search engine to discover several websites from which you can find fonts for free download.
Step 2. Browse through the fonts on the website, and when you find one you like, tap and hold the link for a while. From the resulting menu, select “Open in…” and then tap on AnyFont from the suggested apps.
Step 3. Selecting AnyFont downloads the font to the application, and you will now see it listed up with other downloaded font styles. Installing the font is easy. Simply tap on it, and you will require to install a certificate. Do that and accept and confirm every screen right to the end of the process.
Step 4. You will be returned to AnyFont when the installation is complete. Restart the app on which you wish to use the new fonts and enjoy your new customization.
